New Mac Studio Supports Low Power Mode for Quieter Environment, Reduced Power Consumption

Apple has confirmed that the new Mac Studio models with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips support Low Power Mode, a feature designed to reduce fan noise for quieter environments and lower power consumption when the computer is left running continuously.

Low Power Mode reduces fan noise, making it suitable for tasks requiring a quiet environment. However, the reduced fan noise aspect of Low Power Mode requires macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later. The new Mac Studio ships with macOS Sequoia 15.3.

Apple’s support document also confirms that the Mac Studio still lacks High Power Mode for additional cooling. A list of Macs that support Low Power Mode is available on Apple’s website.

This feature is not reflected in previous reports, but an update to the support document has confirmed its availability starting with macOS Sequoia 15.3. The new Mac Studio models are a significant improvement, offering enhanced performance and power efficiency.
