Apple’s latest MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip has made its debut on Geekbench, a popular benchmarking tool. The results show that the new laptop is not far behind its Pro counterpart in terms of performance.
In single-core tests, the MacBook Air (Mac16,13) scored 3,680 points, while in multicore tests it achieved 14,924 points. These scores are within the average range of our benchmark database, indicating a relatively small performance loss between the Pro and Air SKUs.
However, in Geekbench’s Metal test, which simulates real-world GPU workloads, the M4 MacBook Air scored significantly lower with 54,864 points. This could be due to the entry-level variant having fewer GPU cores, but it remains unclear without official confirmation from Apple.
It appears that this is an earlier version of the laptop, as it comes equipped with 16 GB of RAM. The results suggest a solid performance profile for the new MacBook Air, although some limitations may apply to the base model’s GPU capabilities.
