A new video has surfaced showing what is claimed to be the final design of Nintendo’s next-generation Switch console. The mockup, created by a third-party case manufacturer, appears to be based on accurate dimensions but lacks functional prototype status.
At first glance, the new Switch 2 resembles its predecessor, but it differs in key areas. Notably, it measures wider than the existing Switch OLED and shares a similar width with the Valve Steam Deck. This increased width may indicate a more robust design.
Notable changes include the addition of a top-mounted USB Type-C port, which was missing on previous models. The Joy-Con controllers have grown in size, featuring an extra auxiliary button on the right-hand side. They also appear to be slightly more ergonomic than current designs.
The new Switch 2 design appears to be a refinement rather than a radical overhaul. With an expected release by March 2025, Nintendo is likely to make further announcements about its next console iteration.
