NewPipe Warning Spreads After Google’s Developer Verification Rules

Google’s new developer verification rules will require apps from verified developers, including those not available on the Play Store, starting in 2026 or 2027. NewPipe users are concerned because their app is distributed outside of Google Play and may no longer work on certified Android devices after enforcement begins. The warning, which was added to the app last month, claims that Google’s system would lock down Android and requires developers to submit personal identity details.
