Kyren Lacy, a former Louisiana State University (LSU) wide receiver and NFL draft prospect, was found dead on April 12. The 24-year-old died from suspected suicide. Kenny Lacy, his father, has spoken out about the importance of addressing mental health concerns in young people.
Kenny Lacy wrote on Facebook: “Youthful parents should discuss mental well-being with their children at a young age and encourage them to feel confident in seeking help.” He emphasized that ignoring small signs of distress can be detrimental. Kenny also stated, “Mental health is real, but often invisible, and it’s crucial not to ignore the signs.”
The LSU community expressed its condolences for Kyren Lacy’s passing, with a statement saying they are “saddened to learn of the tragic loss.” Rontrell Sandolph, a friend of Kyren’s, paid tribute on Instagram, describing their friendship as a source of comfort.
Kyren was facing felony charges related to a December car crash that resulted in the death of former marine Herman Hall. The athlete had been released on bail and was expected to face a grand jury. His death comes after he declared for the 2025 NFL Draft following the incident.
