NFL Star Defends Taylor Swift Amid Super Bowl Backlash

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley expressed his surprise at why fans booed pop superstar Taylor Swift during Sunday’s Super Bowl, saying he doesn’t “get it” as to why she received hate.

Barkley defended Swift, crediting her with helping grow the NFL’s popularity, particularly in international markets. The Eagles star visited the Caesars Superdome and appeared on a videoboard alongside rapper Ice Spice during Sunday night’s game, where Swift was booed by fans.

Notably, many of those boos likely came from Eagles fans. However, after joining the team last offseason, Barkley has been welcomed with open arms by supporters. “They just shower you with love,” he said of the fans.

Barkley attributes this to their warm reception, especially considering his departure from the New York Giants, a move that ended on an unpleasant note for him and his family. The Eagles’ affection for him and his daughter has brought a sense of belonging, making Swift’s presence at the game seem like an odd case of dislike.
