NFL Teams Begin Mandatory Minicamp Week

The 2024 NFL season is just around the corner, and most teams are now in mandatory minicamp week. This non-voluntary series of practices marks the end of their offseason programs, with only a few teams holding sessions next week.

Notably, the Bears had their minicamp last week and the Lions canceled theirs due to an early start to training camp for the Hall of Fame game. Players who don’t show up without an excuse will face fines that add up to $104,768 over three days. However, these fines can be waived.

As teams prepare for the season, several issues and uncertainties are emerging. The Patriots have addressed their concerns about receiver Stefon Diggs, while the Bills continue to hold out on a contract extension for running back James Cook. In other news, quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones will both participate in minicamp despite recent injuries.

Other teams are dealing with contract disputes, including defensive ends Trey Hendrickson of the Bengals and linebacker Micah Parsons of the Cowboys. The Browns are also working through quarterback rotation issues, while rookie Cam Ward is expected to see first-team reps for the Titans.

The Seahawks are looking to solidify quarterback Sam Darnold’s position as starter, and the Giants will be without their usual QB1 Russell Wilson as he participates in minicamp for the first time with the team.
