The Minnesota Wild will be well-represented at the NHL’s inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off. Five players have been chosen to participate in the February tournament. The roster includes Filip Gustavsson, Joel Eriksson Ek, Jonas Brodin, Brock Faber, and Matt Boldy.
Gustavsson, a goaltender for the Wild, is set to play for Sweden alongside his teammate Joel Eriksson Ek. Defenseman Jonas Brodin will also represent Sweden. In contrast, defensemen Brock Faber and winger Matt Boldy have been selected for Team USA.
Wild coach John Hynes is serving as an assistant coach for Team USA, which also features President of Hockey Operations Bill Guerin as its general manager. “I’ve been privileged to be on the national team a few times now, and it’s always such an honor to be on the team,” Gustavsson said. He will face off against goalies from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States in a seven-game tournament that replaces this season’s All-Star Game.
The championship game is set for February 20. The 4 Nations Face-Off follows NHL rules and features a round-robin format culminating in a final between the top two finishers.
