Nicole Kidman Honors Late Mother with Palm Springs Film Award

Actress Nicole Kidman paid tribute to her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, by dedicating her International Star Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival. The award recognizes Kidman’s performance in the erotic thriller “Babygirl,” which she also stars in alongside Harris Dickinson and Antonio Banderas.

On Friday, January 3, Kidman received the award from actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who also mentioned her mother during the ceremony. After thanking Babygirl director Halina Reijn for casting her in the movie, Kidman expressed her grief over her mother’s passing, saying she was dedicating the award to her as an emotional tribute.

The 57-year-old actress has been open about her personal struggles since her mother’s death last year and missed screenings of “Babygirl” at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival to be with her family. She thanked fans for their “outpouring of love and kindness” in a statement with her sister Antonia.

Kidman is currently working on an upcoming Prime Video series, Scarpetta, alongside Curtis as sisters. The show is based on Patricia Cornwell’s novels and marks the pair’s latest collaboration.

The International Star Award is a notable recognition for Kidman’s tour-de-force performance in “Babygirl,” which has earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
