Nicole Kidman is set to scrub back in as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the main character in a new forensic crime thriller series on Prime Video. The adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling novels debuts on March 11 and follows two timelines: one that tracks Kay’s beginnings as a chief medical examiner in the late ’90s and another that shows her return to her hometown 28 years later.
The series explores the psychological complexities of both perpetrators and investigators, creating a multi-layered thriller. Kidman will play Kay Scarpetta, determined to serve as the voice of the victims and unmask a serial killer. The show also delves into complicated relationships, professional and personal grudges, and secrets that threaten to unravel everything she’s built.
Amanda Righetti plays young Kay’s sister Dorothy, while Jamie Lee Curtis appears in the series as well. The cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, and Ariana DeBose. More than 120 million copies of Cornwell’s novels have been sold worldwide since Kay Scarpetta’s debut in 1990.
