Nikki Bella recently discussed her divorce from Artem Chigvinstev in an episode of her podcast The Nikki & Brie Show. She spoke with sister Brie about the reported domestic violence incident that led to his arrest last year, but clarified that their divorce was not related to it.
“The divorce has nothing to do with what happened,” Bella said. “Divorce is divorce, and it’s based on the contract we signed during marriage.” According to Bella, she was ordered to pay Chigvinstev $200,000 in spousal support as part of their divorce settlement. She considers this a good deal, saying she “got a steal” from her ex-husband.
The judge presiding over their case also praised Bella’s business acumen, telling her that she should be proud of the empire she built. During private mediation, the judge noted that this was the first time he had seen a woman take on spousal support obligations to her husband, saying “You should be so damn proud that you built such an empire that someone wants a piece of it.”
