Nikon has introduced its latest super-zoom bridge camera, the Coolpix P1100. The camera boasts a massive 24-3000mm optical zoom lens, making it one of the most powerful on the market. Weighing only 3.1 pounds and featuring a 16.79-megapixel sensor, the P1100 offers incredible versatility in a compact body.
The lens is constructed from 17 elements in 12 groups, including five extra-low dispersion elements for reduced distortion. The camera also features Dual Detect Optical VR, which reduces camera shake by 4.0 stops, allowing for smoother handheld shots. The P1100 can capture 4K video at up to 30p and supports timelapses.
Notable for its intended audience, the P1100 includes a Bird Watching Mode that allows users to assign functions to the optional ML-L7 Remote Control. Additionally, the camera features a Fireworks mode, which helps reduce blown-out highlights during long exposures.
While it’s not a completely new design, with similarities to the 2018 P1000 model, the P1100 includes some exciting updates and is set to be available in late February for $1,099.95.
