Nintendo Clarifies Credits Policy Amid Controversy

Nintendo has responded to criticism over omitting the original development team at Retro Studios from the credits of its recent Donkey Kong Country Returns HD remaster. The company stated that it values “contributions that all staff make” during game development, and believes in giving proper credit for those involved.

The decision to leave out the original developers from the credits sparked controversy, with some expressing disappointment on social media. Nintendo has previously faced criticism over missing individuals who worked on its games from their credits.

In a statement, Nintendo did not explain why it had omitted the Retro Studios team from the HD remaster’s credits. The company will be asked for further clarification and updates if more information becomes available.

The Donkey Kong Country Returns HD review praised the game as “a challenging and satisfying platformer that stands the test of time.” However, the reviewer noted that it struggled to outshine its Switch port counterpart, Tropical Freeze.
