Nintendo has reassured customers that the upcoming Switch 2 console will retain affordable prices, mirroring what fans have come to expect from the company. The original Switch will not see a price drop after its release.
Speaking at a recent Q&A session following the release of Nintendo’s Q3 financial results, President Shuntaro Furukawa acknowledged rising inflation and changing exchange rates as factors in determining the Switch 2’s cost. However, he emphasized that affordable prices are essential to customers’ expectations.
“We’re considering these factors from multiple angles,” Furukawa said. “We’re aware of rising inflation and that the exchange rate environment has changed significantly since the launch of the Nintendo Switch.”
The Switch 2 is expected to launch in 2025, with a new Nintendo Direct showcase set for April 2. While exact pricing details remain under wraps, predictions suggest a price tag of around $399.99 for the US market or lower.
Contrary to rumors, there are no plans to reduce the cost of the original Switch, ensuring that it remains an attractive option for customers. As the release date and cost of the Switch 2 draw near, fans can expect more insight into Nintendo’s pricing strategy.
