Nintendo Confirms Genki’s Switch 2 Leaks Are Fake

Nintendo has finally broken its silence on the recent leaks surrounding the alleged Switch 2 console. In a brief statement to CNET Japan, the company confirmed that the gaming hardware showcased by Genki at CES is “unofficial and not provided to the company by Nintendo.” This echoes similar statements made by Nintendo in Japanese media outlets.

The leak, which included detailed video renderings and a replica model of the Switch 2, was revealed on Genki’s social media channels. The company claimed that its products were derived from molds created with a real Switch 2 obtained from the black market.

Nintendo’s statement does not dispute the appearance of the Switch 2 rendered by Genki, nor does it address other recent leaks surrounding the console. This is surprising, given Nintendo’s history as a litigious platform holder.

The move has sparked speculation that Nintendo will accelerate its plans to reveal the Switch 2 in detail, possibly through a Direct presentation in January.
