Nintendo Delays Switch 2 Pre-orders Due to Tariffs and Market Conditions

Nintendo has delayed pre-ordering for its upcoming Switch 2 console in the US, citing the impact of tariffs imposed by Donald Trump’s administration on Chinese goods. The company had initially planned to start pre-orders on April 9 but instead announced that it will reassess timing later.

Despite this delay, Nintendo confirmed that the June 5, 2025 release date for the Switch 2 remains unchanged. The console’s launch price was revealed as $449.99, with a Mario Kart World bundle priced at $499.99.

Experts are warning of economic uncertainty and rising prices due to tariffs, which could impact tech and gaming goods like the Switch 2. Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad stated that Nintendo may consider a higher price for the console if tariffs go into full effect.

The delay is specific to the US market, with pre-order timing remaining unchanged in other regions such as the UK.
