Nintendo Delays Switch 2 Preorders Amid Tariffs, But Launch Remains on Track

Nintendo announced on Friday, April 5, that it is delaying preorders of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the US due to “assessing the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions.” However, the console’s June 5 launch date remains unchanged.

Preorders for the standard Switch 2 model will begin on Wednesday, April 9, at $450. A bundle including Mario Kart World, priced at $500, will also be available from various retailers such as Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.

The new features and upgrades announced during Nintendo’s Direct on April 2 include improved Joy-Con controllers with a built-in microphone and camera, a larger touchscreen display, and enhanced audio capabilities. The console also boasts increased storage capacity at 256 GB, compatibility with external storage options, and support for 4K resolution in TV mode.

While the delay may cause some inconvenience, Nintendo has assured that the June 5 launch date remains intact. Gamers can look forward to a more comfortable, immersive, and streamlined gameplay experience on their new Switch 2 consoles.
