Nintendo Switch 2 Adds Classic GameCube Library, Games Revealed

Nintendo has officially announced its plans to add a library of classic GameCube games to the Nintendo Switch 2, exclusively available on the new console. This move is part of the upcoming Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, which will also bring the GameCube library to subscribers.

However, there are some key points to note about this addition. The GameCube library will be exclusive to the Switch 2, meaning that even Switch Online + Expansion Pack members without a Switch 2 cannot access these games. This applies to both the online game library and the wireless GameCube controller, which is only available for Switch 2 owners.

Despite the initial limited selection of three titles (The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and F-Zero GX) announced as part of the service, Nintendo has shown off several other upcoming titles. These include Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Pokemon Colosseum.

Chibi-Robo! will be released on August 21 for Switch 2 owners. The GameCube library is expected to add more titles regularly, similar to other Nintendo platforms’ online services.

Nintendo has confirmed that the first set of games will launch on June 5 with the release of the Switch 2, marking an exciting addition to the console’s gaming lineup.
