Nintendo’s Switch 2 and other gaming consoles manufactured in China are likely to be affected by the ongoing trade war between the US and China, despite a recent exemption for some tech products. The US has announced that smartphones, notebook computers, and certain other electronics will be exempt from Donald Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs. However, this exemption does not apply to gaming consoles. According to an internal assessment memo, game consoles face a 145% tariff on goods made in China, which could result in significant price increases for products like the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.
