Nintendo Switch 2 Demand Exceeds Supply in Many Countries

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has revealed that demand for the Nintendo Switch 2 far surpasses its supply in many countries, leading to inconvenience for consumers. The company apologized for not being able to meet everyone’s expectations and announced plans to strengthen production and supply systems.

The console released on June 5 and sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days, making it the highest worldwide launch ever for any Nintendo hardware. This surpasses the original Switch’s 1.4 million unit launch week.

To cope with the high demand, Nintendo initially accepted applications through random drawings from people who met certain criteria on My Nintendo Store. Despite this system, many consumers were unable to purchase the console due to limited supply.

However, retailers are now offering the console for direct purchase at their stores, increasing availability. The company has announced a fifth drawing will be held in early July to further meet consumer demand.

Furukawa emphasized the importance of meeting consumer needs, stating that Nintendo will continue to strengthen its production and supply systems to deliver as many consoles as possible.
