Nintendo is set to unveil its new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, on April 2. The upcoming Nintendo Direct livestream will provide details on the console’s release date and price, as well as its new features.
A release date in June with a launch window of first-party games has been confirmed. Insider Gaming reported that the console will be available in June, with more third-party titles to follow later. However, the exact price remains uncertain due to economic factors affecting Nintendo’s tariff policies.
The Switch 2 is expected to boast improved hardware, potentially rivaling the power of a PlayStation 4 Pro or Steam Deck. New features may include the ability to use Joy-Con controllers like computer mice and enhancements to the console-level operating system. A “C” button on the new Joy-Con controller remains unexplained.
New games for the Switch 2 will likely be showcased, with one confirmed title being an unnamed Mario Kart game. Launch titles could include an enhanced Zelda port or Metroid Prime 4. The next 3D Mario game and potential Xenoblade series project may also be revealed.
