Nintendo’s long-awaited Switch 2 has arrived, but it seems the company hasn’t fully addressed some of the design concerns that plagued its original console. A teardown by iFixit revealed that the new Joy-Con controllers still use a resistive material, similar to those found in earlier models, which could lead to joystick drift issues if not properly maintained.
The Joy-Cons also prove difficult to disassemble and repair, requiring a specialized tri-point screwdriver and additional tools like a pick and isopropyl alcohol. This may discourage some users from trying to upgrade or modify their consoles.
Despite these design concerns, the Switch 2 launch marks a significant shift in Nintendo’s approach to its online store, with many speculating that it will be the final version of the eShop as we know it.
