Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, is reportedly launching in June. According to a report from Insider Gaming, the launch will be followed by a three-phase rollout of games throughout the year.
The first phase, starting in June, will see the release of several first-party Nintendo games, including the next Mario Kart game. Developers who want to create games for the Switch 2 are expected to receive dev kits around this time. However, many developers already have access to these kits.
Phase two, set to launch between October and November, will introduce more third-party games to the console. The final phase, which falls during the holiday period, is expected to feature even more releases.
Notably, a new Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2, but rumors suggest another one may occur later in the week. This direct will focus on the original Switch and upcoming titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
The release of the Switch 2 has sparked speculation about features such as improved hardware that could enable 60 FPS modes on select games, as seen in the recent release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
