Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch 2, is showing signs of a successful launch, with sales exceeding those of its predecessor, the original Switch. The company has sold over 5.8 million units since its release in June and expects to reach 15 million by the end of March, beating the original Switch’s time frame.
This upward trend is driven by strong demand for both the console itself and its software. In the latest quarter, the Switch 2 sold 8.67 million games, with Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza leading the charge. Additionally, sales of the original Switch were boosted due to its backwards compatibility with the new system.
Nintendo’s financial performance has also seen a significant boost. Revenues more than doubled compared to last year, reaching $3.8 billion, while profits topped $378 million. With this momentum, Nintendo is on track to reach early $12.6 billion in revenue for the current fiscal year.
