The Nintendo Switch 2 has made a strong debut, becoming the fastest-selling video game hardware device in US history. According to market research, the console sold 1.6 million units in June, outpacing previous records set by the PlayStation 4.
Mat Piscatella, a video game analyst, notes that this achievement is a significant milestone for Nintendo Switch 2. The console’s launch has driven a 22% increase in gaming hardware spending in the US, with content spending rising by 6% to $4.4 billion.
Notably, 82% of Nintendo Switch 2 buyers have purchased Mario Kart World either physically or as part of the bundle.
The success of the Switch 2 is attributed to various factors, including the release of Elden Ring: Nightreign, Stellar Blade on PC, Pokémon Go Fest, and Death Stranding 2’s debut. With retailers still restocking shelves and new bundles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A edition set to launch, the console’s popularity is expected to continue.
The holiday season is approaching, providing additional opportunities for sales growth.
