Nintendo Switch 2 to Launch with GameCube Controller and Exclusive Games

Nintendo has finally confirmed the release of the long-awaited Switch 2 console, set to launch worldwide on June 5. The new console comes with a dedicated controller designed specifically for playing GameCube games. This revival of the classic controller is expected to bring back nostalgic memories for fans.

The GameCube controller will be available through Nintendo’s My Nintendo Store site and will require a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service. The controller is cordless, maintaining its original design while introducing some updates, such as a smaller ZL shoulder button on the left side for compatibility with non-GameCube games.

While fans can opt for the GameCube controller, they also have the option of using the new Joy-Con 2 controller duo or the Switch 2 Pro Controller to play GameCube games. The classic titles will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online service, but only playable on the Switch 2 console.

The first batch of confirmed GamesCube classics to join the library include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, SoulCalibur II, and F-Zero GX, as well as other notable titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Pokémon Colosseum. The exact release dates for these games are not yet specified.

With the arrival of GameCube games on Switch 2, Nintendo is providing a unique gaming experience that blends nostalgia with modern conveniences.
