Nintendo Switch Online Upgrades for Switch 2 Launching June 5

Nintendo Switch Online, now exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, will bring various enhancements to members, starting June 5. The service’s growing library of classic games, including a new addition from Nintendo GameCube, will be available on the new console.

GameChat, a voice chat feature, can be enjoyed by non-members during a limited period until March 2026. After that, a membership will be required for continued access. Those with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will have access to additional titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and F-ZERO GX, along with a wireless controller modelled after the original GameCube controller.

Nintendo Switch Online members will also receive upgrade packs for certain games at no additional cost, including enhanced versions on the new console. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch app’s name is being changed to simply “Nintendo Switch,” offering improved voice chat and game-specific services.

The updated app will also feature ZELDA NOTES, a service supporting players in The Legend of Zelda series on the new console. Members can share recent screenshots and video captures with others through the app. All these updates are set to launch June 5 for Nintendo Switch 2 owners.
