Nintendo has announced a new free mobile app called Hello, Mario! that lets kids play with Mario’s face. The company also revealed a new collection of Mario-themed products designed for kids and toddlers, including wooden Amiibo blocks.
The Hello, Mario! app is similar to Super Mario 64’s title screen, where players could interact with an interactive 3D version of the character’s head. In this app, kids can poke, tug, and fling Mario’s face around the screen while the character reacts in various ways.
While the app may not appeal to adults, Nintendo has created a few items in its new My Mario collection that parents might find appealing. The collection includes plush toys, dinnerware, teething toys, clothing, and an interactive board book featuring Mario’s face. A pair of wooden building block sets is also available, with one set priced at ¥2,980 (~$20) and a larger set priced at ¥19,980 (~$135).
The My Mario collection will be available in Nintendo’s Japanese stores starting August 26th, while the Hello, Mario! app will be available for download on the same day. It is unclear if an English version of the app will be released, but some products from the collection will become more widely available next year.
