Nintendo of America has officially opened its second U.S. store in Union Square, San Francisco, at 331 Powell St., marking a significant milestone for the city’s historical shopping district. The two-level store promises an immersive experience for video-game fans of all ages, featuring exclusive items like Mario plushies and Pokémon cookware.
Online reservations are required for initial visits, with plans to announce more events and activations on social media in due time, including the June 5 launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. To create a magical atmosphere, human-sized statues of classic characters and window decals evoke Nintendo’s branding, drawing customers into a world they love.
The store is organized by game franchise, starting with Mario, followed by Zelda and Animal Crossing. Exclusive products for each franchise include hoodies, water bottles, and t-shirts featuring the “Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO” logo, as well as themed cookie jars and cute stationery inspired by Animal Crossing.
Game enthusiasts can enjoy interactive experiences like playing games on various screen sizes, a Switch customization zone with unique joystick colors, and access to rare collectible figurines. Nintendo aims to create a community-driven space where fans can share their passion for gaming, mirroring the company’s efforts in other locations.
“We want it to be much more than just a store – we want it to be an immersive experience,” said P.J. Vallasco, senior manager of the Nintendo America Retail Team. The goal is to bring people together and create a space where fans can discuss their love for gaming and related topics.
