Nintendo Unveils Switch 2 Console with Bigger Display and Joy Controllers

Nintendo has showcased its new Switch 2 console in a video trailer, featuring an upgraded display and improved joy controllers. The company did not announce a release date for the Switch 2 but hinted that more details will be revealed during its upcoming “Nintendo Direct” event on April 2.

The Switch 2 is designed to breathe new life into Nintendo’s struggling hardware business, with key features including a larger screen, enhanced kickstand, and compatibility with old Switch games. The console’s joy controllers have also undergone significant changes, with the joysticks and controller covers coming in light blue and red variations that can be magnetically connected to the main tablet.

Nintendo is relying on the Switch 2 to boost console sales, as the current-generation Switch has reached an almost eight-year lifetime. The company reported a net profit of 27.7 billion Japanese yen ($178.2 million) in its September quarter, but revenues sank 17% year-over-year.
