Nintendo is encouraging fans of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to complete one million laps before the release of its highly-anticipated sequel, Mario Kart 9. The company has launched a “Community Challenge” event on its website, where players can compete for a chance to earn 310 Platinum Points.
The challenge will run from March 7 to March 17 and will count combined laps, making it more difficult as the number of participants increases. However, with over 10 days to complete the task, many experts believe it’s achievable, even with just 12 players participating.
In exchange for completing the challenge, players will receive Platinum Points that can be redeemed on the My Nintendo store or other rewards. To join, simply search for a tournament with the code 1152-2501-4827 online.
While the challenge seems daunting, it’s a great way to celebrate Mario Day on March 10 and get excited for the new game. The event is also seen as an opportunity for Nintendo to encourage players to spend more time with its popular franchises, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which will be eight years old next month.
