Nintendo has officially confirmed its mouse-like controls for the upcoming Switch 2 console, after multiple leaks hinted at similar features. The company’s patent filing reveals a device with multiple use-cases that resemble mouse functionality and associated control schemes using the new Joy-Con controllers.
The patent, filed in August 2023, details an input device with several key components, including front, upper, and side surfaces, as well as a direction input unit, buttons, and a sensor for mouse operation. The design suggests a “dual mouse” mode, where two separate control schemes can be used simultaneously.
