Nio Inc. reported a significant growth in its sub-brand Onvo’s vehicle deliveries, despite reducing its sales team by 40% in May. According to William Li, Nio founder and chairman, Onvo delivered at least 6,160 vehicles in May, representing a 40% increase from the previous month.
Onvo only began delivering vehicles in September 2024, making the comparison with April’s delivery figures of 4,400 units relevant. The growth is notable, especially considering Li did not provide further details on Onvo’s delivery growth.
Nio’s overall May deliveries are estimated to be around 27,000 units by Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin’s team, representing a year-on-year increase of 31% and a month-on-month increase of 13%. The company is expected to announce its official May delivery figures tomorrow.
In contrast, Nio Inc delivered 23,900 vehicles in April, while Onvo delivered 4,400 units. Firefly also delivered fewer vehicles, with only 231 units sold in April.
