Nissan Recalls 443,899 Cars Due to Engine Failure Risk

Nissan is recalling nearly half a million vehicles due to a manufacturing flaw that could lead to engine failure. The affected models include the 2021-2024 Nissan Rogue, 2019-2020 Nissan Altima, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55. The recalled engines are 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter variable compression turbo engines.

A manufacturing issue with the bearings is suspected to be the cause of potential engine failure. To determine if a replacement is needed, owners will need to have their vehicle inspected by a service technician at a Nissan dealership. The technician will check for debris in the oil pan and perform repairs or replacements as necessary.

If no issues are found, the engine oil and any necessary seals will be replaced, along with reprogramming of the engine control module. Owners of affected vehicles can contact Nissan’s customer service at 800-647-7261 for more information. Notification to owners will begin on August 25, while dealerships will be notified on July 15.
