Iowa City, IA – In a dramatic fourth-quarter turnaround, No. 21 Iowa outscored No. 18 Iowa State 22-13 to claim a 75-69 win over the Cyclones on Wednesday night. The Hawkeyes’ victory was led by Lucy Olsen’s 25 points and Sydney Affolter’s 16 points.
Iowa State initially took an early lead, but the Hawkeyes staged a comeback in the final five minutes of the game. Aaliyah Guyton hit a crucial three-pointer with 45 seconds left to seal the win for Iowa.
The teams had traded leads throughout the first three quarters, but Iowa’s defense came up big in the fourth quarter, forcing 21 turnovers and limiting Iowa State’s scoring opportunities. The Hawkeyes also outshot their opponents, finishing at 43% compared to Iowa State’s 52%.
Aaliyah Guyton’s 31 points were matched by Audi Crooks’ 31 points for Iowa State, but the Hawkeyes held a slight edge in rebounds and free-throw shooting.
