No. 9 BU Beats Top-Ranked BC in Beanpot Thriller

Boston University’s Cole Hutson scored the game-winner in the second period as the Terriers defeated top-ranked Boston College 4-1 in the final of the annual Beanpot college hockey tournament.

Hutson, a sophomore and second-round pick by the Washington Capitals, had three goals and five points to lead the Terriers to their 32nd Beanpot title. His teammate Mikhail Yegorov made 43 saves for Boston University, earning the Eberly Award as top netminder of the tournament.

Boston College’s Gabe Perreault scored the lone goal for the Eagles. The loss marked a disappointing end to the season for BC, who had high hopes after drafting several first-round picks in the recent NHL draft. Coach Greg Brown described the team’s reaction as “upset” in the locker room, citing their desire to win.

The victory gave Boston University momentum heading into the offseason, with coach Jay Pandolfo praising his team’s performance. The Terriers’ winning recipe of determination and hard work was on full display in the thrilling Beanpot final.
