Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that no arrests were made after late-night searches near Nancy Guthrie’s home on Friday night. The operation was based on a lead and led to a search warrant, but no signs of Guthrie at the scene.
More than 20 vehicles from multiple agencies, including SWAT and forensic teams, were spotted in the area. Investigators confirmed that the activity is related to the Guthrie case, but the house does not belong to a former county attorney.
The FBI has yet to comment on the searches. Sheriff Nanos stated that the family members have been cooperative with the investigation, providing DNA samples for testing. Over 30,000 tips have been received in the case, and investigators are working to identify who owns the found DNA.
A suspect described as a man around 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 wearing a black backpack has been featured on surveillance video. The FBI increased the reward to $100,000 for information leading to his capture.
Guthrie’s neighbors were asked to check their security footage from January 1 through February 2. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is working to process over 30,000 tips and relies on public input to solve the case.
