No Man’s Sky has introduced a new feature that allows players to build and fly customizable multi-crew spaceships with their friends as part of the Voyagers update. The game lets players design and engineer their own Corvette spaceships, choosing from various components such as hulls, wings, landing gear, engine parts, thrusters, and weapons.
The ships can be customized both inside and out, featuring a habitable interior with sleeping quarters, mission radar, teleporter, and other amenities. Players can also explore the ship’s corridors while flying it, even during warp jumps and planetary approaches.
Newcomers to No Man’s Sky won’t have immediate access to Corvette construction due to unlock requirements. However, they’ll be able to experience the feature in a limited-time Expedition mode, which includes cosmetic rewards and useful ship parts for building their own vehicles.
The update has required significant rework of No Man’s Sky’s technology to accommodate multi-crew spaceships. The team behind the game, Hello Games, is excited about the possibilities this feature opens up for the future of No Man’s Sky.
The Voyagers update expands on the tech already used in other games like its Earth-sized planet sim. Sean Murray, Hello Games’ boss, emphasizes that he’s eager to see where the team takes this new direction from here.
