Nokia Deploys 4G Network on the Moon as Part of NASA Mission

Nokia, once the leading mobile phone brand, has shifted its focus to global connectivity and telecommunication infrastructure. The Finnish company has now taken a historic step by becoming the first to deploy a 4G network on the moon. As part of the Intuitive Machines’ IM-2 mission, Nokia’s 4G LTE technology will be used to establish real-time communication capabilities for future space missions.

The lunar network, designed with reliability in mind, will enable stable data transmission and interplanetary communication. The system consists of a self-contained box integrated into the lander, which will activate upon landing on the moon’s south pole. Two robotic vehicles, MAPP Rover and Micro Nova Hopper Drone, will maintain seamless network connections.

This milestone marks a significant step towards NASA’s Artemis program, aiming to establish a sustainable human presence on the moon. Nokia’s innovative approach has positioned the company as a leader in space communication technology. The deployment of 4G networks on the moon opens doors for future exploration and paves the way for reliable data transmission.
