A highly contagious stomach bug, norovirus, is causing rising cases across the US, according to CDC data. There were 91 reported outbreaks in the week of Dec. 5, affecting all age groups but particularly vulnerable children under five and elderly adults.
Experts attribute the surge to a return to pre-pandemic levels, with over 32,000 whooping cough cases recorded so far this year – the highest annual total in a decade.
