Northern Ireland Murder Investigation Launched After Shooting Incident

Police in Northern Ireland have launched a murder investigation after a woman and two children from the same household died in a shooting incident on Wednesday morning. A man who was seriously injured is being treated at hospital.

The area of Maguiresbridge, 8 miles from Enniskillen, has been sealed off by police, with no ongoing risk to the public. Supt Robert McGowan said all four victims suffered gunshot wounds and detectives are working to determine the circumstances.

Local politicians have expressed shock and sadness over the tragedy. Sinn Féin MP Pat Cullen urged people not to speculate on the details, while Democratic Unionist party assembly member Deborah Erskine condemned the incident as “horrific” and offered condolences to the families of those killed.

Former DUP leader Arlene Foster also paid tribute, saying she was “so very sorry for the family involved” and praying for all impacted by the incident. Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Hilary Benn described the news as “tragic and deeply distressing”.
