Northrop Grumman’s uncrewed Cygnus spacecraft will leave the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday, March 28. The Cygnus is scheduled to depart after delivering over 8,200 pounds of supplies and cargo to NASA and its international partners.
Astronauts and flight controllers will monitor the departure process, with a scheduled undocking at 6:30 a.m. EDT. The Canadarm2 robotic arm will detach the spacecraft from the Unity module’s Earth-facing port, followed by release at 6:55 a.m.
The Cygnus is filled with trash packed by the ISS crew and will deorbit on Sunday, March 30. Upon re-entry, it will safely burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere. The spacecraft arrived at the ISS on August 6, 2024, following a launch from SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
