Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been charged with 32 crimes, including four counts of rape. The charges include allegations of domestic abuse and filming women without their consent.
Høiby’s lawyer denies all charges, claiming his client will present a version of events during the trial. The case is expected to go to court in January over six weeks. If convicted, Høiby could face up to 10 years in prison.
The maximum penalty for the charges is 10 years in prison, according to prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø. He emphasized that Høiby’s status as part of the royal family will not affect his treatment under the law.
The Norwegian royal court has stated that they will let the courts decide on the matter and do not have further comment to make.
