Nothing’s upcoming phone series, including the 3A model, is showcasing significant camera improvements in a recently released teaser video. However, during a comparison of the phone’s camera capabilities with that of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, it appears that Nothing accidentally used footage shot using an iPhone’s ultrawide lens instead of its standard lens.
This mistake led to a noticeable difference in the quality of the footage, suggesting that the iPhone’s ultrawide lens is not ideal for video recording. In contrast, the Nothing phone seems to produce sharper and less noisy images, despite being a mid-range device compared to the premium iPhone.
Nothing has since explained that this was an honest mistake and acknowledged that they will be more rigorous in their comparisons going forward. The company’s post notes that footage shot with the iPhone’s standard lens was mistakenly used, rather than its ultrawide lens, which led to the discrepancy.
The comparison between the two devices highlights a surprising advantage for Nothing’s 3A series phone, particularly when it comes to video quality. Although this slip-up may have been intended as a way to level the playing field by reducing the resolution of the iPhone footage, it ultimately reveals that the mid-range device is capable of producing high-quality images comparable to its more expensive counterpart.
The Nothing Phone (3A) series is set to release in March and promises significant upgrades over previous models. With teasers confirming an upgrade to Snapdragon processors and the addition of a telephoto lens, fans are eagerly anticipating the full release.
