Nothing has announced its second phone under its colorful subbrand CMF, but it’s not getting an official US release. The Phone 2 Pro is a modular handset with extra accessories that can be screwed into place. While it packs performance upgrades and new modules, it’s only compatible with one existing accessory.
The CMF Phone Pro 2 comes with a well-specced budget Android handset, featuring a decent triple rear camera system, a bright 120Hz OLED screen, and 128GB of storage. However, the real appeal lies in its modular add-ons: a screw-on case, a kickstand-card wallet combo, a bright orange lanyard, and swappable camera lenses.
The new accessories attach to the cover, which has improved water-resistance compared to its predecessor. The lenses are a notable addition, offering a fisheye and macro lens for enhanced photography capabilities. However, some modules, such as the lanyard, are not compatible with each other, causing an imbalance when used together.
The Phone 2 Pro runs on Android 15 with promising three years of OS updates and six years of security patches. It also features AI-powered “Essential Space” for taking screenshots and saving photos. The phone is available in Europe starting at £219 / €249 for 128GB, rising to £249 / €279 for 256GB.
Nothing’s modular ecosystem has sparked both excitement and concerns about its future development. While the Phone 2 Pro’s performance and camera capabilities are impressive, the lack of interoperability with existing accessories raises questions about the system’s longevity.
