Notion has introduced a long-awaited feature, adding offline mode to its AI-powered project hub. However, this new feature does not automatically apply to all documents. Instead, users must enable it manually for each document they want to access without an internet connection.
For some subscriber tiers, offline mode can be enabled on certain documents without needing to toggle the setting. Nevertheless, there are still parameters to be familiar with in the new system. Notion has designed its offline mode to work independently of other features and requires users to download individual pages or automatically sync recent and favorited pages for Plus, Business, and Enterprise plans.
A global toggle also allows users to disable offline mode if they prefer to always work from the cloud. Notion has highlighted best practices and limitations for offline mode, including the ability to keep writing or planning without syncing changes until you’re back online. However, features reliant on live data like embeds and forms are unavailable when using offline mode.
Additionally, offline mode is device-specific, allowing users maximum control over local storage. This differs from Craft, an all-in-one workspace that’s designed to work offline by default everywhere.
