Nvidia Expected to Ramp Up RTX 50 Production After Blackwell Chip Shortage

Nvidia’s RTX 50 series supply woes are expected to improve in just one month as the company ramps up production. Renowned leaker MEGAsizeGPU claims that demand for data center GB200 chips has fallen short of Nvidia’s projections, leading to excess yields from TSMC being repurposed for consumer-grade GB202 chips used in the RTX 50 series.

The new supply stream is expected to improve on-shelf inventory within around a month. Nvidia’s partners, including MSI and Gigabyte, are set to receive “tons of GB202” chips, addressing concerns about limited availability. The increased production is seen as a necessity due to data-center Blackwell chip sales not meeting expectations.

The move comes ahead of AMD’s RDNA 4 reveal later this month, which could have capitalized on Nvidia’s shortages if launched sooner. As a result, AMD may need to be aggressive with pricing to stay competitive. For now, consumers are advised to wait for independent reviews before upgrading to the RTX 50 series.

The news has sparked excitement among gamers and hardware enthusiasts, who hope that the increased supply will lead to more affordable prices. With the mid-range models not yet benefiting from the improved production, it remains to be seen how this development will impact the broader market.
