NVIDIA Fails Older GPU Users with RTX 40 and RTX 30 Support

NVIDIA’s software is still causing problems for users, particularly those with older graphics cards. Although successive drivers have addressed issues with the RTX 50 series, users of the RTX 40 and RTX 30 series are being left out in the cold.

The company initially faced teething problems with the RTX 50 launch, including recurring black screens and other issues. To address these problems, NVIDIA focused on releasing drivers for the new generation cards. However, the change notes reveal that fixes aimed primarily at new-generation cards have not been sufficient to support older series users.

RTX 40 users are experiencing bugs when using NVIDIA’s recent technologies like DLSS Frame Generation with G-Sync. Symptoms range from simple crashes and BSODs to freezes and reduced performance in games such as God of War: Ragnarok, Alan Wake 2, and Cyberpunk 2077.

To mitigate these issues, some users have found workarounds by switching to older drivers or modifying NVIDIA’s features. However, this comes at the cost of losing access to latest features and supported games.

This lack of support for older GPU users is another concern for NVIDIA, tarnishing the company’s image and adding to its to-do list.
