Nvidia has released the GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, a mid-range mobile graphics card positioned below the more powerful RTX 5070 Laptop. The new GPU combines Nvidia’s expertise in high-performance computing with AMD’s Ryzen AI 7 350 processor in laptops like the MSI Stealth A16.
The RTX 5060 Laptop features 8 GB of VRAM and can be configured to consume between 45-100 watts, offering dynamic boost capabilities. Although it has fewer CUDA cores (3,328) compared to its flagship counterpart, the RTX 5060 Laptop should still deliver decent performance in mainstream gaming laptops and fast multimedia laptops.
Our test system consisted of an MSI Stealth A16 with the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor and the new RTX 5060 Laptop. We ran various benchmarks, including 3DMark tests, to evaluate the GPU’s performance. The results showed that the RTX 5060 Laptop can outperform its competitor, the Gigabyte Aero X16, which is paired with an RTX 5070 Laptop.
In terms of gaming performance, the RTX 5060 Laptop holds its own against its more expensive counterpart in 1080p resolution tests. However, when moving to QHD resolution, the differences become slightly more apparent, and the RTX 5070 Laptop generally takes the lead.
One significant advantage of the RTX 5060 Laptop is its affordability compared to the RTX 5070 Laptop. With comparable power limits, the new GPU offers almost identical performance at a lower price point. This makes it an attractive option for those looking for a balance between performance and cost.
While our test time was limited, we’re eager to conduct further benchmarks to assess the performance of the RTX 5060 Laptop more thoroughly. For now, this mid-range GPU looks like a solid choice for mainstream gaming laptops and multimedia devices.
