NVIDIA GPU Drivers Cause Widespread Instability Issues

The latest NVIDIA GPU drivers are causing widespread issues with the older RTX 40 and RTX 30 series, forcing game developers to recommend using older drivers. Games like “inZoi” and “The First Berserker: Khazan” have been plagued by instability, resulting in crashes, freezes, and performance issues.

According to recent reports, the new drivers are causing problems for both RTX 40 and RTX 30 series GPUs, with users experiencing stuttering or frame drops. Game developers have issued warnings advising users to use older drivers only if they own an RTX 50 series GPU, which is not affected by the current issues.

The recommended driver versions are NVIDIA GPU Driver 566.36 for RTX 40 Series and 572.83 for RTX 50 GPUs. These drivers were released in December 2024 before the RTX 50 series was launched and have been shown to fix instability issues in previous reports.

However, the new 572.XX drivers still contain bugs, including those that affected the RTX 50 series. NVIDIA has not acknowledged these issues with its gaming segment, which is a small but significant part of its overall revenue.

Game developers recommend rolling back to older drivers if experiencing issues on RTX 30 GPUs, while users with RTX 50 GPUs are limited to using pre-572.XX drivers due to incompatibility.
